A Simple Bread Recipe To Impress Your Guests With

Are you looking for a simple bread recipe that you can make in less than an hour? I posted this simple bread recipe on my social media feed a few weeks ago and it was a huge hit! It also happens to be my family’s favourite bread so I thought I would share it here on my blog. I found this Spelt bread recipe in Today’s Parent magazine 10 years ago and it is foolproof! Figured it was fairly easy since it was in the Kids Cooking section 😉🤪

Here is the recipe if you want to give it a whirl.

Spelt Bread
4 1/2 cups spelt flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 3/4 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup honey

Preheat over to 400 degrees F.

Whisk together 4 1/4 cups of flour with baking soda and salt. Mix yogurt and honey in a separate bowl and then combine with dry ingredients. Stir until dough comes together. It will be soft and floppy.

Spread on your work surface with a little extra flour. Roll the dough into a rough ball. Place it on a baking sheet with parchment paper and gently flatten it with your palm. Cut an X across the surface with a sharp knife.

Bake 30-35 minutes (or until tester inserted comes out clean). Let cool.

This bread makes a nice compliment to any soups, stews or chilis. My kids also love to eat it with peanut butter and jam or melted cheese on top.

A super simple bread recipe you can make in a jiffy!

Enjoy.
